sexting

Sexting is when someone shares images or videos of themselves or others which are of a sexual nature. These can be naked or semi-naked images/videos, or sexually explicit messages.

The wealth of mobile technology available to young people these days makes sexting easier than ever. The developmental processes that adolescents go through means their judgement is not always sound and they can be prone to risk taking behaviour, this leaves them particularly vulnerable to being coerced into taking part in sexting activities. We work with young people to get them to understand the risks they are taking when sharing such intimate information online and educate them to understand what a healthy relationship should look like, so that they are better placed to make safer choices when interacting online.
