In line with Government curriculum guidelines, we use age-appropriate presentations.
We use Breck’s story to teach young people how to:
Use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly
Recognise acceptable or unacceptable behaviour
Identify a range of ways to report concerns about content and contact
In addition, we educate young people about the specific risks associated with online grooming through gaming and social media and empower them to make better choices to keep safer online.
We teach pupils how to recognise the signs of grooming. For years 1 and 2 we don’t cover Breck’s story, but focus instead on identifying strangers online. For years 3 upward we talk about ‘grooming': when someone tries to pretend to be your friend to get you to do something that could be harmful and ‘catfishing': when someone pretends to be someone they are not online.
