Helping Young People Reclaim the Internet
“I learned from the Breck Foundation what the word grooming meant and what impact it can have on people who are affected by it.”
- Kai, age 11.
“I learned all the signs of grooming and I think it was very helpful as I can tell my friends outside of school about it and feel safer. It was scary but I know how to be aware of it now.”

Breck Ambassadors
Who are the Breck Ambassadors?
Breck Foundation’s award winning Breck Ambassadors Programme is a peer-led initiative, where young people aged 13 – 18 are trained to deliver high-quality peer-to-peer educational presentations in their own schools on the signs of online grooming and exploitation using Breck’s story. It is designed to promote online safety and educate young people around the risks of grooming & manipulation through the power of youth voice.
History
The original 'award winning' Breck Ambassador pilot project was conceived and run in Tower Hamlets in 2016/17 by two Police Officers who, after hearing Breck’s story, began delivering the presentation to their cadets with the aim of training them up to deliver similar presentations to their peer groups in schools.
In 2001 Breck Foundation received funding from the Surrey Police and Crime Commissioner to deliver the project in conjunction with Surrey Volunteer Police Cadets, to great success.
New wave of Breck Ambassadors
Sussex Youth Amabassador Project (2024 to 2027)
In 2024 Breck Foundation secured funding and a strong partnership with the Office of Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner to deliver our first pilot Sussex Youth Ambassador Project.
In Year one, we recruited 49 Youth Ambassadors from 14 schools across East Sussex, West Sussex and Brighton & Hove. The Ambassadors have undergone an extensive programme of training, building their knowledge, public speaking skills and confidence. The Ambassadors now deliver assemblies about Breck’s story to their peers, audit & disrupt the current online safety provision curriculum, and act as a safe face for their peers in their schools. We believe young people’s voices speak the loudest, and the Youth Ambassador project is built on that foundation.
We are delighted to have secured funding for Year two of this project, taking us to mid-2027 and enabling 10 more schools and up to another 30 Youth Ambassadors to join our team of talented young people.
