Safer Internet Day 2026

Safer Internet Day is a powerful reminder that creating a safer online world is a shared responsibility, and at the Breck Foundation, we are proud to stand alongside organisations, schools, families and young people across the UK in supporting it each year. On 10th February 2026, people across the nation will come together to recognise Safer Internet Day, a global campaign that encourages us all to reflect on how we use technology and how we can make the digital world a safer, kinder and more positive place. This year’s theme, Smart Tech, Safe Choices - Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI, highlights the importance of understanding the online spaces young people are navigating every day.

For young people, the internet is a place to learn, connect and express themselves, but it also brings risks and challenges that can be difficult to manage alone.

For parents, carers and educators, keeping up with fast-changing technology can feel overwhelming.

Safer Internet Day is not just about raising awareness of dangers, it’s about building knowledge, confidence and open conversations so that everyone feels better equipped to support safe and positive online experiences.

Smart tech means tools that can think, learn or respond. Like AI, apps and the devices we use every day.

They can be fun and helpful, but young people still need to make smart choices online 💡 That means checking what’s real, protecting your personal info, being kind to others, and looking for the 🚩green flags, safe spaces and trusted people.

When we use smart tech safely, we help make the internet a better place for everyone 🌍

Young people are already using AI in school, gaming, creativity, and social spaces. Safer Internet Day is a reminder that knowledge is protection.

By learning about misinformation, deepfakes, privacy, and healthy boundaries, we can help young people use AI as a tool, not be shaped by it. Education today builds confidence online tomorrow. 💻

Online Safety is for EVERYONE!

Parents, carers, educators, and young people all have a role to play in creating safer digital spaces, especially as AI continues to evolve. Ask questions. Stay curious. Talk openly about what young people are seeing and using online.

Together, we can make smart tech safer tech. 💙
